The Bluecoat Singers in The Community

The Bluecoat Singers are proud to be active within the community and the choir has supported many charities and good causes.

Each year, we plan our activities calendar in advance, ensuring we have a number of dates in the diary that are dedicated to fundraising performances and community events.

If you belong to an organisation within a reasonable driving distance of Nottingham and you’re looking for some quality entertainment, we’d be happy to hear from you.
Our concerts feature group performances, solo singers, comic sketches, readings and a keyboard solo from our accompanist, so there’s something for everyone!

We Can...

  • Help you celebrate a milestone or anniversary
  • Entertain at work/family occasions
  • Support your fundraising activities

If you’re interested in having the Bluecoat Singers at your community event, please drop us a line.

Is There a Cost?

We charge a small fee to cover the choir’s expenses (the cost of rehearsal rooms, pianist accompaniment etc), but aside from that, all of the money your organisation makes from the event is yours to keep.

Previous events have easily raised £500 or more, and a fabulous time has been had by all! But don’t just take our word for it…

A wonderful and hugely talented group, the Bluecoat Singers sang beautifully and were so well received everywhere they performed, whilst raising invaluable funds for us. We had so much fun working with the whole team!”

We have been pleasantly surprised to discover how easy it was to organise our concert and generate a useful sum towards our ever-increasing costs.

Our Nominated Charity

Each year, the choir nominates a charity to support in addition to any other local fundraising or community projects we undertake.  The concerts we put on for ourselves over the next twelve months help to cover rehearsal costs and the purchase of music, but any money leftover is donated to our nominated charity at the end of the season.

In recent years we have supported Cancer Research UK, the Notts/Lincs Air Ambulance, The Stroke Association, Alzheimer’s Research and Emmanuel House. The chosen charity for 2025 is Age UK and their work with a local dementia care centre.

The Joyful Jukebox

Our piano accompanist Helen Tooth runs regular Joyful Jukebox singalong sessions.

The Joyful Jukebox provides support to local people living with dementia, as well as to their carers. The health benefits of singing – particularly with regard to memory – are well documented and we can see the tangible results these sessions have on those who attend.

The Bluecoat Singers are proud to support this incredibly worthwhile cause.

Nottingham Young Musician of the Year

The choir is passionate about encouraging up and coming musicians in our area and we’ve been delighted to sponsor this event several times, most recently donating a prize of £250 to talented French horn player Joshua Davis in the semi-finals of the competition in 2024.
